Recent investments in regional partner program and workforce already contributing to significant business growth

AUSTIN, Texas, May 14, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Lifesize®, a global innovator of video collaboration and meeting productivity solutions, announced today it has further expanded operations in Asia Pacific (APAC) and appointed executives to key leadership positions in the region.

David Russell joins Lifesize as country manager for Australia-New Zealand (ANZ) after leading Nexon Asia Pacific’s unified communications-as-a-service (UCaaS) business unit for the previous six years. Earlier in his career, Russell also held management roles at HP and Dimension Data, contributing to both companies’ expansion in ANZ.

Adil Khan has been named country manager for India and the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC). Khan joins the company after multiple years directing Polycom’s enterprise and managed services sales team in India as well as a previous stint managing Cisco’s video and telepresence business following its acquisition of video conferencing provider Tandberg.

Sherman Lee has been appointed country manager for Korea, bringing more than three decades of engineering, sales and business development experience at enterprise software companies, including Autodesk and Mentor Graphics. Most recently, Lee led partner development for data protection and information management software vendor Commvault.

Additionally, Lifesize has hired a new country manager for Japan, scheduled to start with the company on June 3.

“Adil, David, Sherman and our incoming leader for Japan all have extensive experience and deep expertise in our industry, putting us in prime position to capitalize on a relatively untapped market for video conferencing,” said Daniel Lee, vice president of APAC sales at Lifesize. “Along with our existing and new team members, they will deliver Lifesize’s innovation, customer service and communication experiences to even more businesses across the region.”

Since October 2018, Lifesize has more than doubled APAC employee headcount and the company expects another estimated 30 percent growth in that metric through the first half of 2019 to support Lifesize’s expanding presence in Australia-New Zealand, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Northern India and Taiwan.

IDC predicts the combined global market for video conferencing systems, hosted/cloud voice and unified communications (UC), and collaborative applications will reach $42.4 billion by 20221. Lifesize already works with several recognizable customers in the APAC region and is poised to gain more as enterprises in that geography adopt video conferencing and collaboration solutions.

Other regional growth indicators for Lifesize include:

  • A strong year-over-year rise in revenue across APAC during the past six months, highlighted by 123 percent growth in Hong Kong, 55 percent in India and 51 percent in Singapore.

  • A surge in interest from hundreds of new APAC distributors and partners, including GrandTech, resulting in a 200 percent increase in deals registered.

  • The successful launch of the Lifesize Icon 700, the world’s first 4K meeting room video conferencing system, via events in eight APAC cities that drew nearly 600 combined participants from across Australia, China, India, Singapore and Taiwan.

“Lifesize already generates more than 60 percent of our revenue outside of the Americas, and we see limitless potential in how APAC companies can conduct business with each other and the rest of the world through video,” said Tom Cameron, chief revenue officer of Lifesize. “We continue to make strategic investments across all facets of our APAC business and partner ecosystem that will accelerate the momentum and rapid growth we’ve achieved in the region.”

Lifesize’s annual APAC Partner Conference will convene in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam on May 21-23, 2019. Lifesize will also exhibit with Ideal Systems (booth #A10) at InfoComm South East Asia in Bangkok, Thailand on May 15-17, 2019.
